Isle of Man Tour

This tour is based on a 5 days/4 nights trip to the Isle of Man, known for its rich history, beautiful landscapes and home to the legendary Tourist Trophy (TT) races which take place on public roads around the island.
The price includes the return ferry crossing for bike and rider, 4 nights B&B in a 4* hotel (a mixture of twin and double rooms is available) and the expertise of your tour leader. The hotel has underground parking and a very good health and leisure club which includes a heated pool, gym and (for the indulgent) beauty therapy services. So, if the weather is not kind to us, then there is no excuse for not coming back just a little fitter.
We will leave from, and return to, Liverpool. Dependent on where you start your journey you are very welcome to ride with us enroute to Liverpool.
As always, this is YOUR holiday so you are free to decide where you would like to go each day. You may wish to ride with the group and one of our fully qualified Advanced Riding Skills trainers or simply make your own trails/adventures - the choice is yours! Our trainer will provide free coaching, advice and exercises to practise should you wish.
The itinerary will be loosely based on the following and it should be noted that mileage will vary based on the routes taken and weather:
Day 1: Catch a late morning ferry from Liverpool to Douglas, arriving mid-afternoon and a chance to do a little exploring (either on foot or by bike) before checking into the hotel. We can meander through the capital city of Douglas or visit the Manx Museum which exhibits the island’s history and culture, including its Viking heritage and its famous motorcycle races.
In the evening take a walk along the Douglas Promenade, have dinner and perhaps visit the Gaiety Theatre, a Victorian-era music hall that still hosts performances today.
Mileage: Varies.
Day 2: Spend the day exploring some of the island’s rugged landscapes and beautiful beaches. Take a visit to the Chasms and Cronk Karran and have a welcome cuppa at The Sound. Then it’s off to Port Erin and chance to take in Peel Castle, a historic castle located on the west coast of the island. Followed by lunch at one of the pubs in Peel, a charming fishing village located on the west coast of the island, which is certainly recommended.
On returning to Douglas in the evening we can again enjoy dinner at one of the city’s many restaurants or bars.
Mileage: Approximately 50 miles.
Day 3: Our first look at the route of the TT Course which is 37.73 miles of motorcycle racing circuit that takes you through some of the island’s most scenic areas. A stop on the mountain section will let us visit the famous Victory Café for tea and cake. Once we have had our fill of the TT circuit, there is plenty more sights, museums and railways to explore. If we have time, then lunch in Castletown and a visit to Castle Rushden is always possible.
Mileage: Approximately 50 - 80 miles.
Day 4: Time to get to know the north of the island. A morning trip to Jurby Transport Museum, with its collection of vintage cars and motorcycles that will take us back over part of the mountain course as we head northwards. From there it’s just a short hop to Ramsey and the famous Conrod’s Coffee Shop for some well-earned refreshment.
Later in the day we head to the village of Laxey to see the Laxey Wheel, a historic waterwheel used to pump water from the mines.
In the evening we can choose where to eat in Douglas again or maybe just have fish and chips on the promenade.
Mileage: Approximately 70 miles.
Day 5: Time to think about making tracks homeward, but still time before our afternoon ferry to revisit your favourite place, find somewhere new or let someone else take the strain and be driven around the island in everything from a train to a trike!
Our mid-afternoon ferry departure will have us back in Liverpool for late afternoon where we will say our farewells.
