Two Island Jazz shows on one night this week. On Aug 14 we start with the talented jazz harpist and vocalist Caedda Enright leading quartet with is back this week, with Nico Romero guitar, Nick LeBlanc bass, and Matt Bridges drums. Hailing from Newfoundland, Caedda studied music at York University and Holland College. Caedda's goal is to break the perceived boundaries of the classical pedal harp, branching into jazz, pop, and even country. This performance will showcase instrumental pieces by renowned jazz harpist Brandee Younger, along with many well-known jazz standards along with vocal tunes by Norah Jones, Carole King, Bonnie Raitt, and more! This is a bit of "Farewell Caeeda" show as she is about to move back home to Newfoundland. Caedda's group will perform one long set starting at 8pm.
Our second show this evening features Sean Ferris with Norm Zocher. Norm has taught guitar at Berklee College of Music since 1991 and at the New England Conservatory since 1994, covering guitar in multiple styles, fusion ensemble, lap & pedal steel, and multi-string guitar labs. NIck and Matt from the first show will hold down the groove, with special guest Abby Zocher. Abby has taught at Berklee since 1995 across genres, classical guitar repertoire, performance classes, and the Joni Mitchell Guitar Lab. She has directed the Joni Mitchell Ensemble (@joniphilharmonic) since its founding in 1999. You'll hear originals plus music by Bob Marley, Cream, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, and Bill Laswell.
