About this Event
"Whenever I try to tell my daughter how to do things properly she gets really upset. Why?"
"I praise my children all the time but they never learn"
"My son hates it when I say "well done" I am trying to be nice"
Being a parent is about teaching and encouraging our children to learn how to behave and do things properly.
We seem to spend a lot of time telling our children what to do and what not to do but we still see behaviour we don't like.
There is an old parenting adage that says that "we see the behaviour we pay attention to"
So how can we encourage our children effectively?
This online session will give you practical solutions and help you to understand:
- What we are trying to achieve when we criticise
- How praiseand criticism are linked to behaviour
- How praise and criticism feel
- What effective praise looks like
- How to give feedback
This interactive session and popular session is part of the Supporting Links Bitesize Parenting Collection; this one hour event will take place via Zoom and will include a Q&A.
The workshop is provided free to parents by Herts County Council and it is open to all parents and carers of children aged 2-25 years old who are living in Hertfordshire.
