Rules are as follows
1. Caber Toss
Caber toss You focus on flipping a large log end-over-end to land perfectly straight, like a clock's hands pointing to 12 o'clock, emphasizing accuracy and technique over distance, requiring the athlete to lift, run, and toss the tapered log so the small end lands farthest away in a 12 o'clock position, a perfect score for a "turned" caber. Weights and dimensions of caber 5" bottom end 9" top end women 9-12ft, men 13-15ft,
2. Weight For Height
Athletes throw a heavy weight (42lb/56lb for men, 14lb/28lb for women) with one hand over a rising horizontal bar, clearing it with three attempts at each increasing height until only one remains, emphasizing raw strength and technique for clearing the bar with the implement's handle, often swinging it between their legs from a standing position.
3. Old Style Shot Putt
athletes to hold the shot/stone anyway they want within a throwing circle, exiting from the back half after the shot lands in a specific sector, all within 60 seconds of being called, with fouls for touching the circle's top/outside or stepping over the stop board
. The goal is the longest distance, with the landing spot measured within the marked sector lines, not on them, and recorded from the stop board wins two throws the best of the throws recorded.
4. Sheaf Toss
The Sheaf Toss is a traditional Highland Games event where athletes use a pitchfork to hurl a weighted burlap bag (the "sheaf") overhead for maximum height, clearing a rising crossbar. Key rules involve getting three attempts per height, clearing the bar without knocking it down, using a specific weight (e.g., 20 lbs for men, 12 lbs for women), and staying within a designated throwing area.
Plus we have the Tug-Of-War teams going head to head.
Chalk, belts and elbow/knee sleeves all must be used on the day
"Attention"
Tacky is not allowed to be used in the competition.
