About this Event
Irish Gaelic Bootcamp Spring - Level 1: Foundations - 10 Classes
Irish Gaelic is a beautiful languages with over 1500 years of history on the island of Ireland. Over 700,000 speakers of Irish Gaelic migrated to North America in the past two centuries, but few of them passed the language on to their children and grandchildren.
These lessons are designed to welcome New Yorkers of all backgrounds (whether you are Irish American, an Irish person looking to rekindle a relationship with the language, or are a fellow traveler simply interested in learning) into the growing community of Irish Gaelic speakers, giving them the tools to learn the language, and the environment to encourage them to keep doing so.
Learning a language can take years! But with the combination of ANKI (a software) and our community of speakers, we can make sure you don't have to do it all on your own.
Objectives of the Foundations Bootcamp:
- Learn how to pronounce the sounds in the Irish language
- Exposure up to 1000+ words over the 20 week course.
- Learning about the history and the literature of the Gaeltacht
- Learn Sean Nós songs
Pricing:
The Price for the Full course is $250 to be paid up front via Cash, Venmo, Apple Pay, or check.

Student Testimony:
These classes have been the highlight of my week. Tim fosters a great learning community, and the ANKI resources really reinforced what we learned in class. It's also super affordable, which has made it sustainable for me and my friends!

I've long been interested but slightly intimidated to learn Irish but it has been a joy taking Tim's Intro to Irish Gaelic Bootcamp class. He does a great job introducing new vocabulary, concepts, and pronunciations each week in a digestible way. I like how he includes music, literature, news, and social media videos to offer context about the history of the language as well as showcasing how it is impacting Ireland and the diaspora today.
I thoroughly appreciate the digital vocabulary and pronunciation flashcards that he provides weekly that we are encouraged to do daily. They are helping me build a solid foundation as a beginner learning Irish.
Tim's excitement and enjoyment of the language shines through in his teachings. He creates a welcoming environment for all levels of learners.I'm truly grateful for his course.

It's been a pleasure to have Tim as an Irish teacher. I appreciate a clever approach to learning, that's what the language boot camp is. The built-in ANKI resource allows for a very structured approach to learning the material. Tim's enthusiasm for the Irish language is stellar and engaging. I highly recommend popping into Ernie O'Malley's for Tim's weekly langauge sessions!
