About this Event

Investing 101: From Having Less to Building Assets

Financial growth shouldn’t be reserved for the wealthy — it should be accessible to every worker, parent, and dreamer ready to move from survival to stability.
Breaking Barriers: From Having Less to Building Assets – Investing 101 is a free community workshop hosted by The Hope For Humankind Foundation and Training Others To Succeed (TOTS) at the Family Enrichment Center in East New York.
This hands-on session demystifies investing and shows how anyone — whether on public assistance, working a 9–5, managing side gigs, or building a business — can start growing assets right now.
You’ll learn how to use the tools of wealth: stocks, ETFs, index funds, and real estate. We’ll show you how to invest for yourself, your children, and your future — with strategies tailored to everyday realities, not Wall Street myths.
We believe economic empowerment starts with access, knowledge, and community. And it starts here, in East New York.

What You’ll Learn
How to start investing in stocks, ETFs, and index funds with any income.
Simple investing principles like compound interest, dividends, and long-term growth.
How to invest strategically while working a 9–5, running a side hustle, or receiving SSI.
The mindset shifts needed to go from saving pennies to building real assets.
Practical investment steps you can take immediately after the workshop.
How to plan for retirement and generational wealth — even if you’re starting late.
This workshop turns financial literacy into action. You’ll leave with a roadmap that empowers you to make smart, sustainable investment moves that build ownership and legacy for your family.

Who Should Attend
East New York residents ready to take control of their financial futures
Working adults, parents, and side hustlers who want to build savings that grow
Entrepreneurs and small business owners ready to reinvest in themselves
Community leaders and CBO partners looking to bridge financial gaps for residents
Funders and investors interested in grassroots economic development

Join us for a fun and informative event where we'll dive into the world of investing!
