Tour the Invention Studio at Georgia Tech, a student-run maker space. This free tour will last about an hour and include time for questions and possibly demos!Join our group earlier in the day at the Robert C. Williams Papermaking Museum for a tour of the museum and book arts workshop from 11-12:30, if you can! We’ll pause on campus for lunch from 12:30-1:15 before meeting at the Invention Studio, just a few minutes’ walk away.
From the Invention Studio site:
The Invention Studio is a student-run makerspace open to the Georgia Tech community. It is staffed by Prototyping Instructors, student volunteers who are on hand to train you and help with your projects. Use of the Studio is free for all students, faculty and staff of Georgia Tech, regardless of year, major, or prior experience.
The Invention Studio is unique in that students are encouraged to “own” the space. Prototyping Instructors, or PIs, lead other students in the use and maintenance of the space, ensuring that the resources remain available to those who wish to use them. We promote an ethic of responsibility, safety, and community ownership so that students can explore and develop unconventional ideas in a supporting environment.
