What: *Blues Dance* classes are here at Reverie Ballroom! Blues dancing is an umbrella term for a family of living Black American dances that evolved across the U.S. and act as the roots of many other movement styles. The different styles of Blues dancing were shaped by different Blues music genres from the 1800’s to today. These genres vary in instrumentation, rhythms and tempos leading to a variety of different expressions throughout Blues idioms. Connection in Blues ranges from close embrace to solo movement, and your connection to the music is prized as much as your connection to your partner.
Come join us to ground yourself in history and community as we not only learn Blues dance fundamentals, but also how to add your own personal expression to the dance!
When: Wednesdays 8-9pm, October 8-29
Prerequisites: None! This series is for anyone who wants to learn to dance Blues!
