Introduction to Wild Mushrooms

Identifying wild mushrooms is an ancient, invaluable human skill. Mushrooms provide food, medicine, useful materials for tools, supplies, and more. Indeed, humans around the world have cultivated healthy relationships with wild mushrooms, and all non-humans, for hundreds of thousands of years outside the realm of industrial civilization.
Join us for a walking tour of wild mushrooms. We'll provide an overview of methods that you will be able to use to identify mushrooms in the future. We'll meet at the Evergreen Cemetery Duck Pond Parking Lot (by the bathroom), walk a short loop around the area, and see what we see. The prevalence of mushrooms will depend on temporal weather conditions. You may want to bring a notepad or a camera. We may provide some tasty snacks made from foraged ingredients!
Space in this class is limited. Preregistration, along with a paid deposit, is required to reserve a spot in the class. Deposits may be fully refunded in the event of a cancellation a week or more before the class, if the space is filled. Refunds for last-minute cancellations are unfortunately not available. The class will begin promptly at the scheduled time and will run, rain or shine. Please plan accordingly. Contact Rewild Maine at (207) 449-7738 or [email protected] if you have any questions.
NOTE: This class will be held entirely outdoors, rain or shine. Please dress appropriately. We will not be actively foraging during this class.
Rewild Maine is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. We depend on donations from the community to offer free classes and workshops and we are grateful for your support. Scholarships are always available for paid classes on an as-needed basis and nobody will ever be turned away for lack of funds. If you need financial assistance, please contact us. All donations are tax-deductible.
