About this Event
Strengthening Families is a framework developed by the Center for the Study of Social Policy (CSSP) over the last decade to prevent child abuse and neglect. This approach helps child welfare systems, early education and other programs work with parents to build the following protective factors:
• Parental resilience
• Social connections
• Concrete support in times of need
• Knowledge of parenting and child development
• Social and emotional competence of children
Protective factors are the strengths and resources that families can draw on when life gets difficult. Taking those good characteristics and building on them is a proven way to strengthen the entire family and thus decrease the likelihood of maltreatment. Each of the protective factors is essential, but most important is what they do together to create strength and stability in families. Join us for this engaging overview of these 5 Protective Factors!

Trainer: Robin Blumenthal, M.A.
Robin is a trauma-informed trainer, parenting coach, speaker, and writer. She has been serving with the AZ Trauma Informed Network since 2018. She has a passion for partnering with schools, churches and the community. She believes that when our churches, schools, and communities understand the effects of trauma, it changes how we respond and show up for others. When we respond to those around us with compassion and empathy, we help build bridges of connection and healing.
Robin and her husband, Roger, were married in 1991 and have 5 daughters including 4 biological and 1 adopted out of foster care ranging in age from 20-30 years old. Her life is full with family, church, training and inspiring others. She is a certified trainer for the AZ ACEs Consortium, the Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework, and a Trained Independent Facilitator of the Love and Logic® Curriculum (having taught well over 4,000 parents and educators these amazing tools.) She has a B.S. in Child Development and an M.A. in Human Resource Leadership.
This training will take place from 12:00PM - 1:30PM - Mountain Standard Time (Phoenix)
