Introduction to Staged Intimacy: A Workshop for Actors (Dublin)

This introductory workshop invites actors to learn basic tools for navigating Consent, Boundaries and Sensitivities within Staged Intimacy and any moments that are physically and emotionally vulnerable in acting.

As well as practical exercises, guidelines will be offered supporting performers through the audition process, rehearsals, tech and performance which will allow them to work in a more sustainable, empowered and creative way and to allow more emotional and physical security in their work. A priority will be developing a working language for the acting of Love, Passion, Intimacy and Touch on stage.

Topics will include:

· exploring conditions that can best support the creation of intimate Content from Page to Stage

· principles of consent-based practice, and working within boundaries

· establishing and maintaining boundaries

· more effective communication around creating Intimate Content

· the role of an Intimacy Director and how can they support performance

· closure, deroling and self-care

Cost: €15 (Access costs will be covered, and travel bursaries will be offered to participants based outside Dublin – applicants must be resident on the island of Ireland)

Please wear loose clothing as there will be practical work on the floor.

There will be no nudity, lip-to-lip contact or acting of intimate scenes.

This is an introductory workshop for actors only and is in no way a training for prospective Intimacy Professionals.

Applicants should be 18+

NB: Please note that this workshop is not training to become an intimacy professional but is an introduction to principle that can influence an artist’s current practice.
