About this Event
This workshop will explore the process of growing your own plants from seed, from harvest to successful new plants, led by our Nursery Supervisor Peter Watson.
This 1-day course will include:
- An introduction to the benefits and limitations of collecting and growing from seed
- When and how to collect seed - including a practical demonstration in the Garden
- Understanding fertility, viability and dormancy - and common techniques for breaking dormancy
- Advice and demonstrations on cleaning and storing seeds, both short and long term
- Practical demonstration and guidance on sowing and pricking out - including timing, feeding and composts
- Tips for overcoming common issues
- Opportunity for Q&A with Peter
Please bring a packed lunch - tea & coffee will be provided. You may also wish to bring resources for taking notes and your own gardening gloves. There will be some fieldwork elements so participants should dress suitably for the outdoors.
