Are you interested in learning how to screenwrite? Come along to the Belmont Cinema’s new beginners screenwriting workshop!

This 4-part workshop series runs from 6.30-8 on Mondays from 23.03-20.4 at the Attic clothing shop on Union St, with special guest, Professional Screenwriter Chris Watt, attending sessions one and three to share his expertise.

Come along with any ideas you might have and learn to turn them into scripts!


This is an entry-level screenwriting workshop, absolutely no experience needed, just come along and give it a go!


Who's Chris Watt anyway???

Chris is a screenwriter and script consultant, based in Aberdeen, Chris is best known for writing the screenplay for the feature film STALKER, a psychological horror thriller, starring Saturn Award nominee Sophie Skelton (Outlander) & BAFTA winner Stuart Brennan (Rise), produced by Golden Globe Winner Gareth Wiley, which premiered at Frightfest in 2022 before going onto a theatrical release in the U.S. & DVD/Digital release. His second feature film screenplay was the psychological thriller, THE MIRE, available on digital platforms, following a sold-out premiere in 2023, and receiving many positive reviews internationally. Chris also wrote the script for the multi-award winning short film BRUISE, which premiered at the Oscar and BAFTA qualifying Galway Film Fleadh, before enjoying a successful festival run, playing all around the world, while he was the co-writer of the short film THE PURSUIT OF INDEPENDENCE, which has played international festivals, including the BIFA qualifying NEIFF, and won Best Scottish Film at the Partick Film Festival in 2025. A member of BAFTA Scotland, as a consultant, Chris worked with the BFI Film Labs & numerous screenwriting competitions, as well as a number of independent filmmakers around the world. He has been a guest speaker for a handful of university screenwriting courses, including the University of London and NESCO. His third feature film THE BROOK (which he co-wrote) is currently in post-production.
