About this Event
During this 4 hour session you will learn the basics of Saori Weaving. Developed in the late Sixties in rural Japan, this intuitive way of weaving allows you to engage in an open-ended process, mixing colours and textures as you go along.
No prior textile experience needed
This workshop includes:
-introduction to the history of Saori Weaving and its core philosophy
-learning the basics of this uniquely expressive way of weaving
-all materials + use of the ready set-up loom
-coffee, tea
We will enjoy a 30 minute break, so please bring a snack or pop over to Deptford Market Yard's many eateries and cafeterias.
This workshop is aimed at first timers as well as experienced weavers. Saori Weaving places great emphasis on enjoying the creative process and does not aim at a specific outcome; you just weave at your own pace with gentle instructions and suggestions.
Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear.
