Join us for an exciting 2-day workshop dedicated to the art of skirt-making. This exciting experience is ideal for pattern enthusiasts seeking to refine their pattern-cutting skills. Throughout the course, you’ll explore the captivating process of creating ½-scale variations from a basic block. You'll have the opportunity to learn and experiment with a variety of styles, such as:
- Flared skirt
- Wrap skirt
- Yoke with panels
- Circular skirt
- Skirt with godets
Whether you’re a beginner striving to expand your abilities or an experienced sewist looking to refine your craft, this workshop is thoughtfully designed to be both informative and inspiring.
What You’ll Learn:
Introduction to Pattern Making
- What is a pattern?
- Essential tools of the trade
- Understanding pattern anatomy
Pattern adaptions
- What is a block, and why is it important?
- Learn to create various skirt adaptations in ½ scale: flared skirt, wrap skirt, yoke with panels, circular skirt and skirt with godets
- How to properly label and mark individual pattern pieces with symbols and notches
- If time permits, create a toile to test your pattern
- Please bring appropriate woven fabric for your toile
