About this Event
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
If you’ve been curious about learning to knit, this seasonal class is for you! We’ll learn the knit stitch, purl stitch, and simple sewing to make a festive, seasonal pumpkin. And you’ll leave with enough materials to make 2 more pumpkins at home so you have a set, perfect for a fall centerpiece.
Hoagland Handmade uses all natural fibers and prioritizes supporting local fiber farms and other ethical and sustainable sources. The yarn for these pumpkins comes from a Louisa County, Virginia family farm and mill.
Participants will be provided with all required materials: Virginia-raised wool to make 3 pumpkins, cinnamon sticks for the stems, knitting needles, tapestry needle, and the pattern.
**Please register at least 10 days in advance to allow time for delivery of wool from the farm.

Karen Hoagland is the knitter behind Hoagland Handmade. She has been knitting for over 15 years, and specializes in using natural fibers in all her items - none of the plastic/acrylic you find in big box stores! She prioritizes supporting local farms, family-owned mills, and hand-dyers when sourcing natural, sustainable, and eco-friendly yarns. Her husband is in the Air Force and she's had the opportunity to discover local fiber farms, mills, and indie dyers all over the country. When she's not knitting, she and her husband enjoy traveling with their rescue pup and kitty.
