About this Event
Hoverflies are highly diverse and important components of terrestrial ecosystems. Many are very effective pollinators, the larvae of many are aphid predators and a number are associated with ancient woodlands. The workshop is aimed at people with no prior experience of identifying flies. Its aim is to allow participants to recognise adult hoverflies and start to become familiar with the keys to species identification. An introductory talk will lead into a practical workshop using pinned specimens, microscopes and identification keys. It will enable participants to get started with the family.
