Introduction to Free Motion Machine Embroidery with Elnaz YazdaniJoin us for our Introduction to Free Machine Embroidery Workshop with brilliant local embroidery artist Elnaz Yazdani. Follow her on Instagram @elnazyazdani
Free motion machine embroidery, often referred to as freestyle embroidery, thread painting, or thread sketching, is an exciting and creative form of textile art that is increasing in popularity.
Unlike traditional or computerised machine embroidery that follows a pre-determined pattern, free-motion machine embroidery allows the artist to freely move the fabric under the needle, creating unique, personalised designs.
The resultant piece is an intricate, textured artwork that adds a personalised touch to any quilt, textile, fabric or garment.
In this embroidery, you remove the presser foot and use both your hands to guide the fabric as you stitch the embroidery designs while using the foot pedal to operate the machine. The fabric is kept taut inside a frame at all times.
Free motion embroidery can be done by all with some practice, unlike painting, for which a minimum skill is needed for a perfect look. Your creativity can be exercised to the maximum; machine embroidery fills a big design in no time, unlike hand embroidery – no need to spend countless hours and days for the design to complete.
With Free motion embroidery, you feel like a child in a playground doing exactly as you want. That is what the name of the embroidery is all about – Free – you move around freely the way you want to.
You will be working towards embroidering a hoop design using our exciting new Free Motion Machine embroidery feet on our sewing machines.
All materials are included and you will leave with your completed piece.
The course is suitable for complete beginners or those wanting to refresh their skills.
Hot drinks and biscuits are included.
