About this Event
Richmond-based fiber artist Katherine Benner creates both wearable and home textile accessories using innovative surface design techniques. One of her favorite techniques is botanical printing, in which actual leaves (and other plant materials) are used to create beautiful prints on fabrics using pigments and tannins from the leaves themselves.
In this introductory worksho, participants will learn and practice botanical printing. They will learn which leaves give the most successful prints, ways to treat fabrics so that printed textiles are lightfast and wash fast, and they will create several samples and at least two eco printed silk scarves or table runners.
This workshop is held two consecutive affernoons at All Things New Sewing & Service.
Workshop is limited to 10 participants and will fill quickly so register promptly!
