About this Event

Two-Part Workshop

Sunday, November 12, 10am-1pm

Sunday, November 19, 10am-1pm

Imagine yourself as an alchemist creating stained glass with only compostable and renewable raw materials. What are the ingredients, colors, and textures of this “bioglass”? What can you discover about our physical and material environment with such a recipe?

Delve into the world of bioplastics by making a unique piece of stained bioglass!

The first session will introduce participants to the history and practice of bioplastics, along with case studies at the intersection of art, science, and design. Along the way, the instructor will share insights into and techniques for working with kitchen-friendly recipes of various types of bioplastics.

In the second session, we will design, fuse, and stain bioglass. By the end of this series, you will come away with a rich materials experience and your own colorful stained bioglass!
