This course is designed for people who are either about to get their beekeeping equipment, or who are interested in learning more about beekeeping.
Topics covered:
WHS & PPE - equipment you will need, and how to safely look after your bees
Biosecurity & Pest Detection - what to do, when to do it, and how to do it
Hive Hardware - the different kinds of beehives, and which one suits you
Selecting a suitable site for your hive
Identifying your bees - workers, nurses, drones, and of course Queens
How to light a smoker, and keep it smoking
** Weather permitting, we will also be inspecting our hives **
Unless a Full Harvest Ban is in place
What you will need:
*A bee suit (let us know if you need to hire one - $10 payable on the day)
*Boots or closed in shoes
What is provided:
