Join Equiscense Horsemanship for our Introduction to Backing Clinic at Ivesley Equestrian.
This clinic is designed for young, green or inexperienced horses, focusing on building calm, confident foundations before ridden work begins.
Sessions are centred around understanding, communication and creating positive early experiences without unnecessary pressure.
Each booking includes a 1-hour small-group session with a maximum of 4 horses to allow time for individual coaching and guidance throughout.
Topics covered may include:
• Groundwork and handling foundations • Confidence building and relaxation
• Desensitisation and introducing new experiences
• Mounting preparation and ridden foundations
• Understanding pressure and release
• Reading behaviour and body language
• Building trust and communication between horse and handler
Participant tickets include 1 horse, 1 handler and 1 groom space.
Spectator tickets are also available for owners wanting to observe, learn and gain a better understanding of the backing process without bringing a horse.
Time slots will be allocated and issued on the Wednesday prior to the event.
British Standard riding hats, gloves and appropriate footwear must be worn where applicable.
Required equipment:
• 2 lunge lines
• Saddle pad
• Roller
• Bridle
• Headcollar and lead rope
Rope headcollars and 4m lead ropes will also be available to purchase on the day.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your allocated session time.
