Colin MacLachlan is a captivating public speaker with over 25 years of security and risk-related expertise, renowned for his pivotal role in daring and high-stakes missions as a member of the Special Air Service (SAS). Joining the Royal Scots in 1989, he swiftly rose through the ranks to pass the rigorous SAS selection process at just 23 years old. 🎖
A pivotal moment in Colin’s career came during Operation Barras, where he played a vital role in rescuing 11 British soldiers held captive by the West Side Boys in Sierra Leone. His courage and skill were further demonstrated during the Stansted Airport hostage crisis and, tragically, as a hostage himself in Basra, where he narrowly escaped execution. 🙏
After leaving the SAS, Colin pursued academic endeavors, earning a First Class MA (Hons.) in History from Edinburgh University and an M.Litt in Terrorism from St. Andrews University. Transitioning to media, Colin has become a prominent figure in television, radio, literature, and video games, sharing his wealth of experience and insights with the world. 🌍
Beyond his professional achievements, Colin is deeply committed to charitable causes, serving as an Ambassador for organisations including the Lee Rigby Foundation, Pilgrim Bandits, and NSPCC, along with founding ‘Who Dares Cares’, a charity providing support to veterans and individuals experiencing stress. 👏
