About this Event
Curious what “automatic” really means when it comes to watches? Join us at Abingdon Co. for Intro to Watchmaking, a beginner-friendly class focused on how automatic watches work.
This small-group educational evening builds on the basics by exploring mechanical, self-winding watches in clear, approachable language. We’ll walk through how motion becomes energy, what a rotor does, how power is stored, and why automatic watches behave differently than quartz watches. No tools, no teardown, and no technical background required—just curiosity.
Guests will see and handle automatic watches up close, learn how they fit into everyday life, and participate in a guided try-on experience that connects the mechanics to real-world wear. This is not a sales event—it’s an opportunity to understand, ask questions, and feel confident about how automatic watches actually function.
Whether you attended our Intro to Quartz watches or this is your first watchmaking class, you’re welcome here.
