Underwater Rugby is an exciting three-dimensional team sport played entirely underwater. Canberra Underwater Rugby Club is hosting a three week introductory course for new players to the sport. Not only is underwater rugby a unique sport (for both men and women) that is great for your fitness, but it will also teach you skills that will improve your snorkelling and diving experience. It is also just addictively fun!
The sport is physical, but not violent or dangerous. You can take it at your own pace and learn to build confidence in the water over time.
The program is designed to teach participants of all levels some of the fundamental skills needed to play underwater rugby. The focus will be on fun, as well as learning. But if you want to feel challenged, we can arrange that too.
The beginners course is a 3 week program held at the AIS Aquatic Centre on the following dates:
Week 1: Wednesday 28 August 2024
Week 2: Wednesday 4 September 2024
Week 3: Wednesday 18 September 2024
(We will have a break on 11 September due to pool unavailability)
Get there at 6:30 pm to let us set up your equipment and learn about the sport before jumping in the water to give it a go at 7pm.
Just bring your swimmers, and we can supply the rest of the gear! If you have your own snorkelling equipment (mask, snorkel and swimming fins), please feel free to bring them along.
The cost is $20 for all 3 sessions - you are welcome to come to one or to all ! Please note this ticket excludes pool entry, which you will pay on arrival at reception.
If you are interested, please register through the Eventbrite link to ensure that we can contact you beforehand to arrange the equipment sizing.
