This class is full and no longer taking registrations. Learn the art of coiled pine needle basketry! This beginner-level workshop will teach you basic coiling technique using longleaf pine needles with an interlocking stitch. All materials, including pine needles, thread, tapestry needles, and clay basket bases are provided. Students will receive an introduction to foraged fibers, a brief history of pine needle basketry as a craft, and will leave with their own mini handmade basket. About the teacher: Esther Lovingood is a mixed media fiber artist born and raised in the Southeastern Appalachian foothills of East Tennessee and North Georgia. Their art is inspired by the ecology of the landscapes they frequent, encompassing crochet, basketry, watercolor, and pyrography. Their preferred mediums are natural fibers such as pine needles, moss, grasses, and vines respectfully foraged from the land.
