About our Curriculum
Have you always wanted to do Stand Up comedy? Are you an experianced Improviser looking to add tools to your kit? Are you new to comedy but think that stand up would be amazing to try? This new class is for you! The Lab's Introduction to Stand Up class is lead by professional stand up performer and producer Erin Dohony. This class takes the supportive atmosphere of play from our improv classes and applies it to the art of stand up comedy. Over six weeks students will learn the structure of jokes, work together to find their comedic voice, and practice standing on stage and delivering their own material.
Who can join?
This class is perfect for any student interested in comedy. For experienced improvisers, this class will broaden their toolkit and add confidence to their repertoire. However, this would also make a great first, or stand-alone, class for students who just want to try stand up comedy.
Class Schedule
This is a six week class on Sundays 2/2 - 3/9. Classes will be from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm. There will be an optional end of class show scheduled during the session.
About Erin Dohony
Erin has performed and produced comedy professionally for the past 10 years. At Temple University, she began as an actor, writer and Art Director for Temple Smash. After graduation Erin performed stand up comedy while living in Atlanta, in Philly, and all over. Recently she come home to Ambler, where she now produces the popular standup showcase, Sunday School Dropouts at The Lab. In this six week course, Erin will guide each student toward finding their voice and bringing their jokes to the stage.
