About this Event
No experience necessary. Slow Stitch is a mindful, contemplative craft and unhurried process using stitch as meditation. Slow Stitch asks you to take time to develop a deep connection with the materials, the creative process, and yourself. It strengthens the connection of our hands to the lineage of all those who have made stitch before us. We will start with a piece of fabric and a simple running stitch. We place our focus on the doing, not the product. As we work the needle and thread in and out, we will explore the ways we are invited to stillness, and calm. We will play with the qualities evoked through stitch, and explore the beauty inherent in repurposed materials.
Bring to Class: Free to bring scraps or a cut of fabric you love. Cotton thread and hand sewing needles along with a variety of upcycled fabrics will be available to choose from.
Ages: Young Adult, Adult - Minimum 2, Limit 12
