Intro to Sewing

In this beginner-friendly class, attendees will learn the basic operations and techniques of sewing with a sewing machine. The Makerspace provides Brother Innov-is NS80e sewing machines for use during the class.

Participants will not only learn how to operate a sewing machine, but also how to prepare fabric, cut patterns, and handle fabric while sewing. The class will include tips and techniques to make sewing easier and more enjoyable.

Each attendee will create a drawstring pouch from start to finish. The project will include:

• Cutting the fabric
• Sewing with a straight stitch and securing it with a lock stitch
• Finishing edges using an overlock stitch

By the end of the class, each attendee will have a completed pouch to take home.

Please bring 1-2 yards of fabric and a spool of drawstring.

Registration closes two (2) days before the event.
