Part 2 of Sofi's Intro to Sanskrit course, this 3-hour workshop will build upon knowledge gleaned in Part 1, familiarize you with the unique points of resonance in your palate that support Sanskrit’s sacred sounds, and help you to become more firmly grounded in the proper pronunciation of this ancient language.
In this workshop you will:
- Learn how to chant the Sanskrit alphabet (which is a beautiful practice in and of itself).
- Learn the International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration (IAST), so you can correctly Sanskrit pronounce words written in the Roman script, for example, prāṇāyāma
- Practice pronouncing Sanskrit terms and chants common to many yoga practitioners
- Explore Devanāgarī script and learn to translate such words आसन
