We will be teaching all levels of paddling skills for kayaking, and beginner skills in canoe for this 3 hour clinic.Whether you are a novice paddler or a seasoned veteran who wants to make your strokes more efficient or to practice rescue techniques before the SLCK clinic, we are your source for paddling education! Want to get out and learn how to navigate on the big water of the Mississippi River? We have a group for this too!

The Mississippi River Water Trail Association is hosting our 3rd Annual Intro to Paddling Clinic in the calm backwaters of Ellis Bay within the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary on Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 8am-12pm.
THIS EVENT WILL OCCUR RAIN OR SHINE, BUT WE WILL NOT PADDLE IN DANGEROUS CONDITIONS SUCH AS HIGH WINDS, LIGHTENING, OR TORNADO WARNINGS. AN EMAIL WILL BE SENT BY 7AM THE DAY OF THE EVENT IN THE EVENT OF CANCELLATION.
This clinic is suitable for all levels including people completely new to padding as well as experienced kayakers who want to practice deep water rescues. We have use of a universally accessible kayak ramp should your knees or hips cause concern for getting into a vessel.
*Participants must be 12 or older to participate in the skills clinic, and should be comfortable paddling their own boat.
We have a limited number of kayaks to borrow.
