Intro to Lasercutting Workshop : Custom Set of Coasters

Curious about laser cutting but not sure where to start? In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll get a hands-on introduction to the world of digital fabrication while creating your own set of four custom coasters to take home.

During the first half of class, we’ll explore how laser cutters work — including different models, materials, and techniques. You’ll get to handle sample projects and learn what’s possible with this versatile tool. After a short break, we’ll dive into designing for laser cutting using Inkscape, a free and open-source design program. Using a pre-made template, you’ll personalize your coaster set and then watch it come to life on a Glowforge Lasercutter.

This is a great class for artists, makers, and anyone interested in exploring new creative tools and technology.

• What to bring: A laptop with internet access and a downloaded copy of Inkscape (free software)
• Materials provided: Wood and all laser-cutting materials
• You’ll take home: A finished set of 6 custom coasters

• Refunds are available up to 72 hours before the event.
• If a class does not reach a sustainable capacity, it is up to the instructor’s discretion to cancel up to 48 hours before the event. In that case, a full refund will be issued to all registered attendees.
