Intro to Healing Groups: A First Step Toward Change
Two-Hour Experience
This two-hour introductory session is designed to show you exactly how our Healing Groups work. These groups are different from traditional "talk therapy" or support meetings. They are built on the most effective therapy models to make deep emotional work feel safe, fast, and powerful.
In this short session, we move beyond just talking. We use real exercises to show you how a group can become a place of deep support and personal breakthrough.
What to Expect
The two hours are structured to give you a "hands-on" feel for the process:
- The Tools: We provide brief explanations and live demonstrations of exercises used in actual groups.
- The Methods: You will see how we use Nonviolent Communication, Internal Family Systems (Parts Work), and Healing Circles.
- Finding Your Focus: With the therapist's help, you will practice finding a specific "intention" or goal for your personal growth.
- Safe Practice: You will see how participants take turns working on inner change while the rest of the group is coached on how to offer quiet, powerful support.
Why This Format Works
- You Are in Charge: You always decide how much you want to share. The therapist offers many choices so you can guide your own internal work.
- Learning Together: Even when you are observing, you are gaining skills that apply to your own life.
Controlled Vulnerability: We keep the environment supportive and safe, so you can focus on healing without feeling overwhelmed.
FAQs: Intro to Healing Groups
Everything You Need to Know Before Your First Session
- Is this a therapy group? This is a 2-hour introduction to our group model. While it uses therapeutic tools like IFS and Nonviolent Communication, the goal is to show you how the process works so you can decide if a full Healing Group is right for you.
- Do I have to share my deepest secrets? No. You are always in control of your own vulnerability. You will be guided to find a personal focus, but you decide how much you want to share with the group.
- What if I’ve never heard of "Healing Circles" or "IFS"? That is exactly why we offer this intro! We provide brief, clear explanations and live demonstrations so you can see these tools in action before you try them.
- Will I be put on the spot? We use "controlled vulnerability." The therapist coaches the group on how to support each other, ensuring the environment feels safe and low-pressure.
- What is the difference between this and a regular support group? Support groups are usually for "venting" or sharing stories. These groups are focused on active healing. We use specific exercises to help you make internal shifts that lead to long-lasting growth.
How many people will be there? We keep these sessions small enough to ensure everyone can see the demonstrations and ask questions, but large enough to feel the support of a community.
