About this Event
Start the new year learning something new. This course introduces the essentials of drawing including line, tone, mark making and composition. Students will be able to practice using a wide range of methods and materials, from pencil to charcoal and ink. Working from quick exercises to drawings of a longer duration, you will be able to learn how to draw from observation with confidence using a combination of traditional and contemporary techniques. You will be encouraged to develop a personal approach to an engaging range of subjects. Suitable for absolute beginners and more experienced students wanting to explore drawing in a supportive studio environment.

Tutor Kate Hammersley BA MA PGCE is an artist who specialises in teaching drawing, she has taught drawing workshops at the Ashmolean Museum and the Royal Society of Sculptors London. In 2022 she founded Field Art Space a place supporting creativity in the landscape.
Kate is a lively and exciting person to work with. She teaches with great enthusiasm, kindness and calmness. Her projects always draw out something in you that you didn’t know you had! - A student
