About this Event
This basic course provides for a better understanding and awareness of domestic abuse, how to spot it and basic responses. This session is face-to-face and lasts 3.45 hours (with two breaks) and is delivered by expert trainers.
You will learn:
- To recognise the impact of domestic violence and abuse
- To understand different types of abuse, including coercive control
- To spot the signs that domestic abuse is taking place
- How to ask about domestic abuse and what to do
- Which organisations can support victim-survivors and how to signpost
The training is suitable for workers or volunteers who may have brief contact with someone experiencing domestic abuse. This includes receptionists, administrators, volunteers and community members. It is also suitable for workers or volunteers who require less in-depth knowledge of different types of abuse but want to know how to respond. If you need more in depth information we encourage you to attend the Understanding and Responding to Domestic Abuse course.
Please be aware that this session will contain some information on different types of domestic abuse. This may be impacting for some delegates. If you are concerned about the potential impact of the content the training team can provide you with a more in-depth overview of the session.
