Intro to Combatives & Firearms
1-Day Course | May 16th | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
This one day Intro to Combatives & Firearms course is designed for students of all skill levels who want to build a solid foundation in personal defense by integrating unarmed Combatives with handgun use.
The course focuses on realistic, practical application—teaching students how to manage close-range threats, create space, and safely transition to the firearm when appropriate.
Morning Block: Combatives Fundamentals
The morning session will focus on empty-hand techniques and combatives principles relevant to self-defense encounters. Students will work with inert firearms to safely learn:
• Managing distance and controlling an attacker
• Clinch work and positional awareness
• Weapon retention concepts
• Safe integration of firearm access during close-range encounters
This block is structured to be accessible to beginners while still providing value to experienced shooters.
Afternoon Block: Live Fire Application
In the afternoon, students will move to the live-fire range to apply the concepts learned earlier in the day. Training will focus on:
• Drawing and engaging from realistic defensive positions
• Applying combatives-based movement to live fire
• Decision-making under stress
• Efficient, practical handgun employment
Required Equipment
• Semi-auto pistol in a common defensive caliber (.380 or above)
• 200 rounds of ammunition
• Quality holster (Kydex recommended)
• Comfortable clothing suitable for range use and light physical activity
(Combative training equipment for the morning portion will be provided.)
This course emphasizes safety, efficiency, and real-world applicability—making it an excellent option for newer shooters looking to build confidence, as well as experienced students seeking to refine their defensive skill set.
