ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Learn the fundamentals of Kagome, a traditional weaving technique, in this hands-on basketry workshop. Using reed, a natural plant fibre, you’ll be guided step by step through the full process, from preparing materials and building a base to shaping the form and finishing with a lashed rim.
By the end of the 3-hour session, you’ll leave with your own completed basket; an elegant, functional piece perfect for everyday storage.
What you’ll learn:
- How to prepare and work with reed
- The basics of Kagome weaving
- Techniques for shaping and finishing a basket
This beginner-friendly workshop requires no prior experience. All materials and tools are provided.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rebecca Sun Collins is an industrial designer whose practice bridges traditional craft techniques with a material-led approach to making. With a focus on weaving and geometry, her work explores structure, repetition, and process through hands-on experimentation.
She has been leading small-group basketry workshops since 2025, creating supportive environments focused on skill-building and confidence in craft.
ABOUT DOUBLE ENTENDRE
Double Entendre is a group exhibition featuring Canadian designers. This fourth iteration takes place during Montreal Design Week 2026 and will be on view at White Wall Studio from April 28 to May 3, 2026.
