A one night intensive workshop covering the basics of audiobook narration and production
About this Event

The audiobook industry has exploded in recent years, and nearly every book that is published (whether by a traditional publisher or independently by the author) gets released in audio. Narrating an entire book with detailed characters, well-crafted scenes, and continuity of voices is not easy, but it is a skill that can be learned and practiced.

The event:

A 2-hour crash course in audiobook narration!

In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll learn about this billion dollar industry, about different publishers and genres, how narrators are cast, and the workflow of a narrator. There will also be time to work on copy and receive personalized coaching. You’ll leave with some ins and outs of the booming audiobook world, tips for understanding your voice “type,” and receive a list of further resources so you’ll be able to thoughtfully choose your next steps, whether it be more classes, private coaching, building a home studio, or all of the above!PIPER GOODEVE is an Audie Award winning narrator of over 350 titles for major publishers and indie authors. A multiple Earphones Award winner, she has recorded in numerous genres including new works by Alison Bechdel, Meg Cabot, and John Irving, and classics by L.M Montgomery and Thornton Wilder. Passionate about teaching and education, Piper has taught acting and audiobook narration at colleges and universities, including NYU Tisch School of the Arts, as well as at The Voice Shop and CAST at Ripley-Grier. She has directed audiobooks read by Kathryn Grody, Art Garfunkel, Brian Dennehy, and Audra McDonald, and holds an MFA from Brown University/Trinity Rep. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, narrator Gabriel Vaughan, and their two sassy cats. www.pipergoodeve.com
