Join Stasia for a special 3 part look at the Ashtanga Primary Series. Ashtanga is a dynamic form of vinyasa yoga, made up of six series or levels, with a fixed order of postures. Integrating all 8 limbs of yoga, the flowing movements between postures focus on energy and breath. While it can be a very physical practice, it also promotes mental clarity and inner peace.Throughout this series, Stasia will be breaking down the movements and the flow of the sequence with each class building upon the foundation of the other.
Session 1: What is Astanga?
Foundations in each class (breath, movement badha's drihti)
Sun A and B
first 10 standing poses;
transitions 4 seated

Session 2: Vinyasa, vinyasa, vinyasa (and why?)
Sun Sals, 1st 12 standing (warm up's)
transitions 9 seated
transitions to rest
Session 3: Cultivation of Stamina & Equanimity
Sun Sals, standing (warm ups)
transitions 22 postures
transitions to rest
