About this Event

The Intrepid Museum’s Astronomy Night is free from 5:30pm-9:00pm and features fun-filled and educational experiences for the whole family. Don’t miss special programming, including a live, onsite broadcast of our Astro Live program with space professionals, demonstrations by Museum educators, a special Artemis II-themed art gallery exhibit, and stargazing on our flight deck with observers from the Amateur Astronomers Association.

This month, discover how space is happening all around you, right here in New York! From life-saving medical research to satellite technology, law, defense, and beyond, New Yorkers are shaping the future of space in ways most people never see. Featuring a dynamic panel of professional experts, learn about the unexpected industries, institutions, and individuals that connect New York to the cosmos, revealing how deeply space is woven into everyday life. With engaging stories and big-picture thinking, “Space Is New York” celebrates the state’s growing role in the space economy and invites audiences of all ages to discover how they can be part of it.

Additionally, explore “SVA + NASA: The Artemis II / Earthrise Poster Project,” an exhibition of posters created by students at the School of Visual Arts (SVA), in collaboration with the NASA Office of STEM Engagement at the Goddard Institute for Space Studies. The exhibition features 24 works creatively interpreting the goals and values of NASA’s upcoming Artemis II mission, which will send four astronauts into lunar orbit—the next step toward a sustained human presence on the Moon, and, further into the future, crewed missions to Mars. Experience the art and speak with representatives from SVA who worked on the project!

Livestreaming of the featured presentation will be available if you can't make it in person to the Intrepid Museum. View the live event on or .

* American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be available for the demonstration, featured speaker, and some of the educator carts.
