We’re bringing the underground Christchurch rock scene north for this one-off screening of Margaret Gordon’s documentary on Black Sabbath-inspired band Into the Void. To compliment The Dowse exhibition Blood is Thicker: Jason Greig, we’re acquainting ourselves with Greig’s musical history and his place in “Christchurch’s answer to Spinal Tap.” Greig, joined by art school mates Ronnie van Hout, Paul Sutherland and Mark Whyte, kicked off Into the Void together. What followed were two decades of legendary live shows, wild riffs, creative endeavours, two albums, plenty of hard rocking and countless beers. Featuring archive live footage alongside interviews with the band, this film tells the story of what happens when creativity and passion is unleashed. It will make you feel like you were there. Perhaps you were. Either way, relive the glory that was Into the Void at this special screening.
