Set in 1905 New York, Intimate Apparel follows Esther, a Black seamstress who sews lingerie for women across class and culture—from socialites to sex workers. Longing for love and independence, Esther begins a long-distance courtship with George, a laborer in Panama. Their story weaves together themes of loneliness, hope, betrayal, and the quiet dreams of a woman determined to make something beautiful out of her life.
