This event is open to Special Operations Forces Service Members.About this Event
Special Operations Forces Service Members are invited to join Patrick Ryan, owner of Benevolent Design, and The Station Foundation for a two-night woodworking intensive to explore the meditative benefits of craftsmanship. Participants will lean into the mindfulness principles of presence and focus while tapping into creativity. Woodworking provides many psychological and cognitive benefits, including stress reduction, mood regulation, improved concentration and spatial skills, and normalizing brain chemistry.
While working with hand tools, service members will practice grounding, gain some self-awareness about emotional regulation, and experience stillness in the wood shop. Upon completion of the program, each service member will shape and finish a custom, food safe cutting board.
This two-night workshop will be held on:
Tuesday, May 12 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM and
Thursday, May 14 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Event Details:
- Participants must commit to attending both nights of the workshop.
- Dinner will be provided.
- No experience necessary.
- Closed-toe shoes are required.
- All tools and equipment will be provided.
