Interwoven: Candle Making Experience for SOF Spouses

Special Operations Forces Spouses are invited to join The Station Foundation for a candle making experience at Sea Love in Virginia Beach. In the midst of our fast-paced lives, our senses are constantly bombarded with information; countless sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and physical sensations are competing for our attention. Often, the easiest response is to tune it all out and move forward on autopilot, rarely pausing to acknowledge how deeply our surroundings affect our well-being.
This candle pouring experience offers a gentle invitation to slow down and reconnect, guiding participants toward mindful presence through the focused exploration of scent. By narrowing attention to the sense of smell, attendees are encouraged to notice subtle aromas, reflect on emotional responses, and identify fragrances that evoke calm, comfort, and balance. The process becomes not just about creating a candle but about cultivating awareness and honoring the body’s natural responses.
Each participant will leave with a custom-made candle, thoughtfully blended to reflect their personal preferences. More than a handcrafted object, the candle serves as a lasting reminder to pause, breathe, and intentionally incorporate mindful moments into everyday life by using aroma as a powerful and nurturing element of self-care.
