Friday, November 8th from 5:00-6:30pm.What is interoception? You know your five senses, right? Sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. Interoception can be considered the sixth sense. Interoception is all about sensation. This workshop will help you learn how to “embody” the use of the interoceptive tool as you practice an aligned yoga sequence followed by deep rest with the use of props in restorative asana. You can choose to “tune in” and trust that your body intuitively guides you to awareness of your internal state. There is NO separation between your mind and body. Interoception teaches “YOU ARE ONE”!
Practicing interoception means sensing your internal signals and sensations which aid in processing your emotions, understanding them, and enabling a pause before you act. The awareness of your internal sensations and messages of what is happening deep inside your body, its organs and physiology can bring you to a sense of calm. Peace.
The benefits of using this tool of “interoceptive awareness” are sharpened focus, decreased depression, anxiety, and living in the present moment. Combining the practice of yoga with interoceptive awareness you connect deep within the heart/lung cavity, describing sensations of chest and neck, feeling the process of digestion, respiration, circulation and bringing the mind’s eye to the outer edges of your skin. These are all messages for you to further integrate and know the oneness of your mind body, resting in stillness and the liberation of your soul.
The focus of this workshop is to encourage you to trust the intelligence of your Whole Beingness and increase awareness of what messages your body is giving you. Aligning your body with a deep restorative yoga class will be offered after a small presentation of “interoceptive awareness” allowing time for discussion. A guided meditation on methods of how to practice interoception embodiment will be woven into the physical practice. All practices of meditation equal a healthier brain and whole-body mental health.
