The 2026 International Workers' Memorial Day (IWMD) event in Milton Keynes will be on Sunday 26 April 2026. This local event is always held on a Sunday close to the official IWMD date of 28/04.Trade Union members and the wider public are invited to assemble outside the MK Theatre and join us for a short march to the MK Rose for a chance to remember those who have died in work related incidents and show your support to prevent future deaths.
Invited speakers at the event include:
* Mayor of Milton Keynes, James Lancaster
*Leader of Milton Keynes City Council: Councillor Pete Marland
* The Members of Parliament, Callum Anderson MP, Chris Curtis MP, Emily Darlington MP
* Deputy General Secretary, Royal College of Podiatry, Martin Furlong
The event will include a wreath laying at the IWMD plinth by various trade unions. Others are also welcome to bring commemorative wreaths to lay, but this is entirely optional.
Any other organisation interested in laying a wreath as part of the event should contact the organisers in advance
Car parking is available at the nearby multi-story car park. Postcode: MK9 3QA (Marlborough Gate). Tariff (as at April 2019): Sunday – up to 2 hours £1. Trade Union members may be able to reclaim the £1 fee - speak to organisers on the day.
c. 11:30 AM - March departs from the MK Theatre
12:00 PM - Memorial event at the MK Rose
c.13:00 PM approx event ends
Marchers to assemble outside the MK Theatre. There will be hot drinks and snacks available at the assembly point.
If you are not marching, please join us at the MK Rose for midday.
