About this Event
On Thursday 5th March, join us from 12:30pm to 1:30pm at the Spice & Grind trailer for Women in the Footnotes of Salford History, a guided walk celebrating the hidden stories of women across the city. In honour of International Women’s Day, we’ll explore New Bailey and Chapel Street, uncovering lives that have too often been left in the margins of history.
These are women who may appear only briefly in historical records, or who seem incidental to the stories of men. Neither famous nor familiar, their stories reveal courage, resilience, protest, enterprise, love, loss, and the everyday moments that shaped their lives. From tales of maternity and socialising, to punishment, humiliation, marriage, and even M**der, this walk brings their experiences vividly to life.
Please note, the walk includes references to maternal and baby loss, and suicide. It is suitable for all adults, and will go ahead whatever the weather, so dress for a walk around town.
Fifty percent of all ticket sales will support women’s charities, and app users can claim 50% off through the Eden or New Bailey app using the code provided. Come and step into the hidden history of Salford’s women – their stories are waiting to be discovered.
