Survivor Day is the one day a year when people affected by suicide loss gather around the world at events in their local communities to find comfort and gain understanding as they share stories of healing and hope. All gatherings will include a screening of an AFSP- produced Survivor Day documentary. We will be watching the 2023 documentary Healing Together: Culture, Community and Suicide Loss, where three families share how they navigated the loss of their young loved one to suicide. Throughout the film, families reflect on their approaches to grief and the healing process, while also acknowledging the importance of community and culture. Their insights show that, through resilience and support, suicide loss survivors can find understanding, meaning, and even joy in their lives while continuing to honor the lives of those they have lost.
