Traveling with Families

Donna Robinson, travel nanny

Donna will talk about the six major attributes of being a travel nanny. She invites the audience to listen to 3 real-life travel stories and the top 2 attributes she needed for those roles. There will be links to 2 workshops on nannies traveling with parents.

Biography:

My area of expertise is traveling with families or staying home with the children while parents take a couple's vacation or coverage during business trips. I have traveled to Asia, Europe (10 countries), Africa, South America and Australia. I have loved every adventure despite an array of mishaps that happen in travel! The children of many families are now grown and found me again on Facebook or Instagram, and we have remained friends.

Travel is more than just watching children. I have a “sixth sense” about stress levels and work hard to make sure I am doing everything possible to make travel a wonderful memory for parents. My 20+ years have taught me that when it comes to travel - Go With the Flow - as anything can go wrong!

I was once stranded for three days on a cruise without luggage except for the baby items I had tossed quickly into my carry-on when I realized that his diaper bag was lacking! When flight delays or problems arise, I am usually the one dad hands over tickets and passports and “go see what I can fix” as he is too upset by this time to talk! Travel is not always easy, but it is always a great memory!

I was fortunate enough in 2008 to be the first alternative nanny to receive the International Nanny Association Award for Nanny of the Year. I am a big supporter of all nanny conferences; this is where you continue to learn and make the best nanny friends!
