Cambridge WE LOVE 45s history:
Cambridge has quickly become a key hub for We Love 45s, bringing together local DJs, vinyl collectors, and the wider community to celebrate 7” records in truly unique and creative spaces.
The journey began in February 2023, in collaboration with Miss Chivers, with the first all-day We Love 45s Cambridge event. Featuring standout sets from the 45 Kids alongside a record fair, the event laid strong foundations for what would become a thriving local scene.
Building on this momentum, a one-day festival followed at The Missing Sock in September 2023, headlined by the legendary A-Skillz and Mr. Thing. The event went far beyond music, featuring a skate ramp, live street artists, an art gallery, and a craft area — creating a vibrant, multi-layered cultural experience. Later that year, the city also hosted a festive We Love 45s Christmas party at a local skate shop.
In 2024, Cambridge played a central role in the wider 45 Day celebrations, hosting a dedicated event on the day itself. This was followed by another standout one-day festival in September 2024, in collaboration with Heavy Soul and headlined by the incredible Smoove, further cementing Cambridge’s reputation as a vital English hub for 7” vinyl culture.
The momentum continued into March 2025 with a truly special Funk the Court event, held inside an old courtroom at Cambridge Guildhall — transforming a historic civic space into a dancefloor powered by funk, soul, and 45s. Later in 2025, Cambridge once again marked 45 Day with another dedicated celebration, reinforcing the city’s ongoing importance within the We Love 45s movement.
From record fairs and festivals to skate spaces and historic courtrooms, Cambridge continues to play a crucial role in shaping the spirit, creativity, and community-driven ethos of We Love 45s.
